Emirates to order 140 Lockheed L011 due to delays with Airbus A350
An Emirates spokesperson today confirmed that his airline will buy 140 Lockheed L011s currently parked at Victorville, and cancel the order for Airbus A350. "Though the aircraft will have reduced fuel efficiency and require significant investment to get them airworthy, it'll work, because hey, we're Emirates."

American Shifts Hub to Dallas-Love Field
American Airlines CEO Gerard Arpey announced today that his airline would shift operations to Love Field in Central Dallas. The move will be made due to the lack of space at the larger Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Dallas based Southwest Airlines has said that they will voluntarily leave all operations at Love Field.

United Airlines Announces Slot Swap with Iran Air
Not wanting to be left out after the wave of slot trades recently, Chicago-based United Airlines announced a slot swap with Iranian national airline Iran Air. The swap involves 12 slots at London Heathrow Airport, in return for 40 slots at New York La Guardia Airport. The deal will also involve a codeshare agreement. United's New York based frequent flyers applauded the deal, noting the huge jump in service quality.

Ryanair Announces First Class Seating
The Irish Airline will introduce first class seats into the entire fleet by 2011. First Class passengers will get complimentary water and toilets, and seats will have 3' of pitch… Ryanair spokespeople refused to comment on the service, but noted that fares would start at 2000 euros each way

Southwest Airlines to Begin Charging for Bags
In a surprise move, the largest American low-cost carrier, Southwest Airlines has said they would begin charging for bags. The airline said that it needed the extra revenue in order to combat the rising threat from Air Tran Airways. Southwest said that the first checked bag would cost $125 each way; the second $250.
