F-22 Squadrons OK'd for Holloman AFB
Filed in archive Aviation News on August 31, 2006
Officials from New mexico's Holloman Air Force Base have said the stationing of two squadrons of F-22 Raptors at the base will pose no significant environmental impacts to the surrounding area.
The F-22s are planned to replace the F-117A Nighthawks currently flown by the 49th Fighter Wing. The base's T-38A jet trainers are also expected to be retired.
A federally required Environmental Assessment was done and its findings will allow construction on facilities required to operate the fighters.
