This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) alerts you, owners, operators, and repair facilities of Honeywell International Inc. TPE331 and TFE731 series engines, of Purolator Facet, Inc. Service Bulletin (SB) E-1086, dated June 6, 2006. The SB mandates inspection of certain fuel filter elements with part number (P/N) 038493-12, and replacement if necessary. These engines are installed on, but not limited to, the following aircraft:

Between July 1, 2005 and February 6, 2006, inclusive, Purolator Facet, Inc. manufactured fuel filter elements, P/N 038493-12, with assembly date codes of A3Q05, A4Q05, or A1Q06. The filter elements were made available from July 1, 2005 to June 20, 2006. The effected filters may exhibit a small circumferential crack in the closed endcap, which may allow fuel to bypass the filter element. SB E-1086 instructs vendors to remove affected filters from stock, and instructs owners to inspect installed filters of this part number for the endcap crack in accordance with the type certificate holders' maintenance instructions.

The FAA recommends compliance with Purolator Facet, Inc. SB E-1086, dated June 6, 2006, at the times specified. Further, all Honeywell service/ maintenance documents should be followed when maintaining these model engines.
