Filed in archive Aviation News on November 2, 2006
According the Air Force Magazine, the monthly journal of the Air Force Association, the entire fleet of the ill-fated 110 T-3A firefly training aircraft will be scrapped. The fleet has been in storage since being grounded after a number of fatal crashes involving midair engine stalling.
Three Academy cadets and three instructors were killed in Firefly crashes. The Air Force bought the Fireflys for $32 million and spent $10 million trying to restructure them to make them airworthy.
