Flight Bags, Trash Bags...

... Who can tell?
This is a sadly funny story from Aero-News.Net that probably beats whatever happened to your bags during DIA's last little snowstorm:
The FBI remains baffled as to how and why luggage from various international flights found their way into a dumpster behind a Houston pet shop.
Harris County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sergeant Dana Wolfe told the Associated Press the luggage came from passengers at Houston's George Bush International Airport going to or from London and Dubai.
Special agent Rolando Munoz said the FBI was contacted, and the 68 bags were returned to Continental Airlines.
I guess waiting at the carousel was a waste of time... you have to be much more creative to pick up your bags these days.

My bag could be there because those in Iberia lost it on a flight from Madrid to La Palma. I have never seen again, only a check. The sad thing was that I was not the only one complaining about it.

I think the bags were carefully searched and they didn't find anything valuable.

A report by the inspector general of the Department of Transportation released in March found that the FAA had no system in place to even make sure towers were able to remain in compliance with the staffing rules and part of the problem was "that the guidance, because it was communicated orally, was misinterpreted and inconsistently applied. Since the Comair accident, FAA has formalized the verbal guidance into a written order which was, in our opinion, an appropriate and necessary action," according to the report.
