More Trouble for China Airlines
Filed in archive Aviation News on August 22, 2007
Things are not going well for China Airlines. Days after one of their planes burst into fire, another one of their planes had to be diverted to Japan after running low on fuel. Chao Kuo-shuai, CEO of China Airlines, attempted to reverse the damaged to the airline's already tarnished reputation by apologizing and handing out money. I wonder what they'll think of next.
The pilot of the Airbus A330 then requested permission to land at nearby Kansai airport as the jet was running low on fuel, Kyodo said.
The plane, carrying 163 people, landed safely at Kansai, the report said.
The incident came just days after a China Airlines plane burst into a ball of fire just eight minutes after landing on the southern Japanese island of Okinawa.
All 165 passengers and crew on that plane escaped just minutes before loud explosions rocked the aircraft, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the air.
