I live in an area of the country where the highest Elevationlinks in the state is about 800 ASL. As such, I don't get to do mountain flying. However, I do plan to visit the Smokies sometime this fall. As such, I want to get up to speed on what to expect when I overfly the range.

If you're planning to do some mountain flying too you might want to check out the AOPA Air Safety Foundation's Mountain Flying web page. It's an online course that teaches about density altitude, terrain avoidance, mountain weather, and other topics.
