Well guess what, United and Continental are now merging. Gee, who could have seen this coming. Well, as you know, I just sent a letter to the Wall Street Journal supporting US/UA, so that is pie on my face. With out going into too much detail, here's what a merged United and Continental would look like:

Hubs: Newark, Chicago O'hare, Denver, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington-Dulles

Well as you can see, the hubs above give good coverage to almost all of the country, other than the Southeast and Florida.
Fleet:
Boeing 737
Boeing 747
Boeing 757
Boeing 767
Boeing 777
Boeing 787(orders)
Airbus A320 family
Airbus A350 (orders)
This should actually help in terms of optimizing capacity for routes, as seen with Delta
Passengers: 143 million (2009)
Employees: 90,210
So whose name do you think should stay? United, or Continental????
