World War II Plane Lands on Wisconsin Highway
Filed in archive Airshows on July 23, 2007
On Sunday, a man flying a World War II plane to a Oshkosh airshow, made an emergency landing on a Wisconsin highway.
No injuries were reported after the plane landed on U.S. Highway 41 near Fon du Lac County Airport shortly before 8 p.m., authorities said.
"A person called and said that there was smoke as the plane came down," said Andy Dothone, a state patrol dispatcher.
The highway was closed in both directions as authorities worked to move the plane from the highway, but vehicles were eventually able to pass on the shoulder, he said.
The Oshkosh Northwestern newspaper reported that a man and his son were flying the plane to an air show in Oshkosh.
